Visit the Places Featured in
The Mystery House Series
Adventure awaits in Eva Pohler Books. But wouldn't it be fun to continue the adventure from your favorite mysteries in the real world? Moreover, wouldn't it be fun if you got your book club together and went on a trip to visit the places featured in the books? If you don't belong to a book club, take a few friends or your spouse, or, heck, go by yourself. (I did!)

In case this idea interests you, I've outlined the places you should definitely see in each city. These are the places that Ellen, Sue, and Tanya experience in each of the books.
Secrets of the Greek Revival: San Antonio

Stay at The Oge House Bed and Breakfast at 209 Washington in San Antonio. It was the inspiration for the Gold House and what it eventually becomes. I first saw it when my narrator, Debbie Andreen, came to San Antonio from San Diego for a visit with her husband Paul and stayed there. I knew I had to use it somehow in a book.
Dine at Earl Abel's, the cafe where Bud Forrester reveals his secret to Ellen.

Take a tour of the King William District. There are so many beautiful, historical homes, and many of them are open for tours. See the Greek revivals, Italianate, and Victorian houses described in the book. Click here to learn more.

Eat at Pizza Classics at 3440 N. St. Mary's Street, the inspiration for the pizza parlor behind the Gold House. Click here to learn more.

Then eat and play the slots at the Hard Rock Cafe and Casino. Click here to learn more.
After that, visit the Brady Arts District . While you're there, see a show at the Old Lady on Brady (The Brady Theater). Eat at the Greek restaurant, Laffa Medi-Eastern Restaurant, down the block and across the street from the theater. Then go dancing at Cain's Ballroom.

You can also take the haunted pub crawl that Ellen, Sue, and Tanya took. Meet the paranormal investigator that inspired the one in the novel. Her name is Terry French, owner of Tulsa Spirit Tours.

You can even go see the two-hundred-year-old Burr Oak, known as the Creek Hanging Tree, that Ellen, Sue, and Tanya visited. You can find it at 3 N. Lawton Ave., not far from the Brady Arts District.

You should also visit the Greenwood Cultural Center and see the information they have on the Tulsa Race Riot of 1921.

Even though Sue, Ellen, and Tanya don't go there until French Quarter Clues, since you're so close,
you should drive up to Pawhuska and eat at and shop the Pioneer Woman's restaurant, The Mercantile.

Then take a tour of the Pioneer Woman's lodge and recording studio, where Ellen and Sue first saw the ghost attached to Tanya. You'll receive directions from The Mercantile.

French Quarter Clues: New Orleans
While in New Orleans, stay at th Inn on Ursulines, where Ellen, Sue, and Tanya stayed in the French Quarter.

Take a tour of the Old Ursuline Convent Museum and see the haunted Beauregard-Keyes House across the street. Then cross Ursulines Ave. and see the house on Chartres St. that Sue, Ellen, and Tanya bought and flipped. Be sure to visit LaLaurie Mansion on Royal Street and The New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum a few blocks away.

Then go to the edge of the French Quarter to the Voodoo Spiritual Temple to meet the inspiration for High Priestess Isabel, the real flesh-and-blood High Priestess Miriam. Request a bone reading and buy a gris-gris bag while you're there!
